After long discussions with my partner and after the suggestions from other people, I am choosing the topic of reality vs virtual reality. I think I can do this topic and be very persuasive through the medium of photographs. My argument is that Media, with the help today’s technology, distorts reality and the effects this has on people. There is so much support out there and so many different examples. I can use a lot of different examples to get my point across. I can also, use the technique of surprise to keep the audience on their toes. Most of my pictures do not deal with this topic. Some deal with the media but they would just confuse the audience. the picture of the mother yelling on Th. cell phone is a good visual argument but does not support my argument. After looking at my slideshow again, I only want to keep three pictures. The three pictures are the only ones that actually argue my point but also do not confuse the audience. This is one thing that I do not want to do, confuse the viewer.
Something that will make my argument stronger would be pictures that magazines have on their cover than show that same person looking completely different. I think I want have pictures that show what teens with dysmorphic disorder have. I did not start with this but after seeing the slideshow in class, I want to show the effects from this. I think this will bring the agrument more finished. If I show what and how they distort images then show the effects this has on society. This would follow the same line of a person seeing themselves as who they really are then at the end seeing someone that looks uglier than they really are. I think that my slideshow will need a lot more pictures than it has right now!!
